GOD’S LIVING AND ETERNAL WORD
The preaching and conveyance of the Word
of God is the conduit that the Holy Spirit
uses to bring conviction of sin and draw a
person to faith in Christ’s atoning sacrifice
for forgiveness of sins. Romans 10:17 says,
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God,” and 1 Peter
1:23 tells believers that they have been
“born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which
liveth and abideth for ever.”
The Word of God is referred to as “seed” in
Luke 8, and the good soil in this parable
represents a contrite spirit, a heart that has
been broken over one’s sins against God.
