what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? And what communion hath
light with darkness?”
Counting the Cost
Philippians 1:29 clearly “tells it like it is” when
a person becomes a genuine Christian: “For unto
you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only
to believe on him, but also to suffer for his
sake.” It’s our responsibility as Christians to
represent the Christian life in a biblical way, and
many times that will require suffering and a
price to be paid in order to glorify God. But
when we suffer for our obedience to God, 1
Peter 4:13 tells believers to “rejoice, inasmuch
as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that,
when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad
also with exceeding joy.”
