Because my husband and I are fundamentalist
and separatist Christians, we believe in
abstaining from “all appearance of evil” (1
Thess. 5:22), which would include the worldly
so-called “Christian” rock, hip/hop, and rap
music that is being promoted by many churches
today. Although we have been “accused” of
being legalistic, narrow, and pharisaical, we
believe that what we affiliate with as parents and
grandparents tells our children and grandchildren
that it’s okay. In other words, we condone what
we don’t rebuke and separate from. And
according to Romans12:2, identifying with the
ways (and the music) of the world is not “okay”
with God, and it’s my personal conviction that
God will withhold His Spirit and genuine
conversion and spiritual growth from these
