About Being a Grandmother
others takes preeminence in our lives over the
exaltation, adoration, and glorification of God.
Idolatry is a sin in any form, and the first
commandment says, “Thou shalt have no other
gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).
And without necessarily being aware of it,
Christian parents feed their children’s carnal
desire for the praise, recognition, and acceptance
of people by making performers out of them,
whether it be in church life or secular life. And,
sadly, what many Christian parents don’t realize
is that their children can be motivated to attend
church and “perform” in church, memorize
Bible verses, and be involved in church
programs and activities all for the praise and
acceptance of people and/or for the approval of
their parents and yet not be regenerated by the
Spirit of God. A child’s salvation experience can
be mistakenly assumed because of the child’s
performances and involvement in church life.
