preserve, nurture, and promote a relationship
with them. They should insist that their children
also respect, honor, and value their grandparents.
There’s nothing quite so disheartening as to see
a young person cruelly mock, ridicule, and treat
the elderly with contempt, unkindness, and/or
disrespect, much less that young person’s own
grandparents. Leviticus 19:32 instructs God’s
people to honor the elderly.
Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me
As grandparents, we have the mistaken belief
that we will find our fulfillment in life through
our grandchildren. We see slogans that say,
“Happiness is being a grandparent,” so we
expect our grandchildren to bring happiness to
our lives. But as much as I love my
grandchildren and as much happiness and
enjoyment as they’ve brought to my life, I
certainly do not worship them, nor does
