About Being a Grandmother

or compromising God’s honor and glory) to

preserve, nurture, and promote a relationship

with them. They should insist that their children

also respect, honor, and value their grandparents.

There’s nothing quite so disheartening as to see

a young person cruelly mock, ridicule, and treat

the elderly with contempt, unkindness, and/or

disrespect, much less that young person’s own

             grandparents. Leviticus 19:32 instructs God’s

             people to honor the elderly.

As grandparents, we have the mistaken belief

that we will find our fulfillment in life through

our grandchildren. We see slogans that say,

“Happiness is being a grandparent,” so we

expect our grandchildren to bring happiness to

our lives. But as much as I love my

grandchildren and as much happiness and

enjoyment as they’ve brought to my life, I

certainly do not worship them, nor does
