that “that which is highly esteemed among
men is abomination in the sight of God.”
No amount of church busyness or good
works can sanctify us or make us holy.
God’s Word is the instrument that God uses
in conjunction with the power of the Holy
Spirit in a believer’s life to sanctify those
who belong to Him. Referring to true
believers, Jesus prayed in John 17:17,
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word
is truth.”
There are many professing Christians who
have no desire to study and know God’s
Word. To not desire the Word of God is to
break one of God’s New Testament
commandments (1 Peter 2:3) and would
