person’s conversion. Jesus said in John 8:31,

“if ye continue in my word, then are ye my

disciples indeed.”

Living the Christian life requires picking up

one’s “cross” daily (Matt. 10:38) and

suffering reproach and persecution for

identifying with Christ and His righteousness.

Jesus said in His Sermon on the Mount,

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for

righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the

kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when

men shall revile you, and persecute you, and

shall say all manner of evil against you

falsely, for my sake, Rejoice, and be

exceeding glad: for great is your reward in
