SSAB can provide the Hardox and Strenx grades
with a shop primer that provides an effective
corrosion protection of each plate during storage,
                transportation and fabrication.

Shop primed plates in the Hardox and Strenx grades
are coated with an inorganic low zinc silicate primer,
which is illustrated in fig. 9.1. Depending on the
thickness of the primer film applied, different
corrosion protection durations are attained. Two
alternatives exist. The primer can provide a
protection from corrosion for either three months
or six months. The thickness of the primer is
                approximately10-15 μm. The three-month
                protection represents thinner primer thicknesses
and the six-month protection thicker primer Fig. 9.1: The standard primer colors are red for Hardox and gray for
thicknesses of this interval. The plates that SSAB Strenx.
keeps in stock are always painted with a primer
thickness corresponding to a minimum of six
months of corrosion protection. Additional The principal advantages with this measure
