students to keep themselves and say no to sex. In our four
years at Hope to the World High school, we haven’t seen any
female students become pregnant.” The girls applauded.
“Sorry,” Samaria said as the young ladies started laugh-
ing. “Take prayer away and we will see peer pressure, sexual
acts and student pregnancy become a norm in our schools
and society.”
“The last reason why we know and believe prayer should
be kept in our schools is that prayer keeps our football, bas-
ketball, softball, and baseball teams winning.” Katey said. “I
am a part of the Hope to the World’s girls’ softball team, and
Adriana is a part of the girls basketball team and we’ve had
three winning seasons.”
The young ladies started cheering and applauding. “Sor-
ry,” Samaria said. The young ladies began laughing again.
These are some of the reasons why we think prayer should be
kept in our schools.”
“Wonderful, absolutely wonderful,” the governor said
while applauding, “I am going to deliver this recording to the
Supreme Court myself.”
The governor placed on his suit jacket and welcomed the
young ladies to stay in his office if they liked.
“Umm, I think that we should join the march,” Katey said.
“Suit yourself. One of you young ladies can leave your
cell phone number with my secretary. As soon as I hear the
decision made by the Supreme Court, I will call you personal-
ly.”
The young ladies and Mayor Bartley headed out of the
governor’s office, which was swarming with cameras and
news reporters.
“How did your meeting with the governor go?” one re-
porter asked repeatedly.
“It went great,” Katey said.
