September General Meeting: Austin Classical
Guitar Society’s Music & Healing Program

In September, the TCMA gathered for the first general meeting
of the year at The Rosette, the home of Austin Classical
Guitar Society (ACG). In 2014 ACG joined with Carnegie Hall
in New York to create the Music & Healing program. This
program pairs a guitarist/songwriter with a person in need due
too emotional or physical distress. Together the pair work through
the healing process by creating a song to express those emotions.
Healing & Music currently works with 52 total outlets,
including schools and 14 community nonprofit organizations.
Thank you TCMA members Christina Fenrich and Elaine
Kasper who learned about the program while taking guitar
lessons with ACG.

SPOTLIGHT Guided tours of East Austin’s street
murals, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden,
ACL Live, Pease Park, and the Texas
State Cemetery were big hits. Members
Alliance Arts also enjoyed a casual lunch and talk at
VIP treatment at Austin’s treasures! Tarrytown’s Hearth and Soul boutique,
where they learned about trending designs
Alliance Arts is an enrichment group in home and fashion. Soon the group will
focused on cultural education in visit the Elizabet Ney Museum in Hyde
the Austin area. Carrie Connor has a Park where they will get to know Austin’s
treasure trove of knowledge about famous resident sculptor. Alliance Arts
places and activities that make Austin welcomes children, family members, guests,
shine, and the TCMA was so lucky and those exploring a TCMA membership
when she inaugurated the Alliance at their events! Events are posted on the

on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alliance Arts events occur mostly on
weekdays around noon to provide the
greatest access for members, though
some events may fall on weekends.
