Page 40 - GOLIATH THE TALLEST HORSE IN THE WHOLE WORLD
P. 40
I decided to cover Bonnie up with a large heavy sheet but
just leave his nose and mouth outside so that Golly could
see he was still there and touch him if he wished.
I am sure Golly realised what had happened, he was
quite calm and just stood close to his friend, on guard as
it were.
I had to telephone the fell monger, the man who takes
care of animals that have died on the farm, any farm. We
had used the same man for several years and he was
very understanding.
When he arrived a couple of hours later, we told Golly to
say goodbye to Bonnie and took him out to be with the
other horses together for a few hours.
During this time we moved Bonnie out and the fell
monger took him away. (It would not be until Goliath died
himself that we were able to have the horses cremated
and the ashes returned for burial at the Centre.) Bonnie
was just over 21 years old when he died.
He had been with us just over nine years.
PREDNISALONE
It so happened that during the time we had Bonnie taking
Prednisalone, we had one of the older Shetland Ponies
on the same tablets but for a different reason.
We had contact with one of the administrators at the local
District General Hospital at Boston who helped us out
with simple creams and things that had been prescribed
for in- patients but were no longer needed for one reason
or another.
