They really could do 40 mpg plus which at this time was
            exceptional. They were well designed, well built, reliable cars
            that we could sell with confidence.
               Main Ridge showroom was smartened up and the new cars
            came to “our” garage. Herbert was enthused too and between
            us we began to make some sales.
















               (These cars were seriously better than the previous
            models.)
               Sundays on the petrol pumps was always my shift. Money
            was still to be made on petrol so even limited sales were
            worthwhile.
               My days were lifted from time to time by prospective car
            buyers and on one memorable week-end a young family was
            showing particular interest in the new range of cars.
