• Wear Hi-Vis jacket/protective footwear at all times whilst loading and unloading. FTL
depot is a high Viz site and jackets must be worn at all times. Certain sites require
additional Health & Safety additional measures.ie – Hard Hat, please use as
required by our customers.
• Keeping your drivers licence free from endorsements and advise the Transport
Manager (Adam or Mike Battye) should you incur any penalties or believe that you
have incurred any penalties Please also see Section 11.4
• Ensuring they have the correct documentation for each consignment and for
keeping the same safe and secure until required.
• Notifying immediately any problems arising during a journey, (including Prohibition
notices) to the office in order that they are able to take necessary action to resolve
the problem.
• Meeting the legal requirements regarding drivers’ licences, vehicle loading including
weight distribution and overall weight allowance and the Road Traffic Act.
• Not exceeding the permitted purchase allowance of alcohol and tobacco products
as laid down by HMRC (latest guidance) at EU border crossings.
• Adhering to any noted collection/delivery date and times as specified on CMR or
collection/delivery notes or advised by a Transport supervisor or Transport clerk.
Any delays encountered en-route which may result in arriving late must be notified
to the office staff immediately.
• When gaining access to the cargo bed of a trailer or vehicle always use the ladder
or facility fitted ensuring that you maintain 3 points of contact at all times. If the
ladder or facility is damaged please advise the transport supervisor immediately and
include details on your defect sheet.
• Whilst accessing the trailer bed ensure that this is carried out using the rear ladder
through the rear doors and that the curtains remain closed to help prevent falls from
the trailer.
• When working (loading or unloading or checking) on the bed of a trailer/vehicle do
not walk backwards towards the loading opening to stop the risk or falling. Do not
jump from the cab or cargo bed to the ground, always use the ladder or steps fitted,
exiting backwards whilst maintaining 3 points of contact.
