• On arrival at the delivery point (other than Freight Transport Limited depot) the
driver shall unload or oversee the unloading of the goods to confirm the condition
and quantity of the load on arrival. The driver is to obtain a documentary receipt,
either a POD/CMR for the goods. Any shortages or damages noted by the delivery
point staff must be notified without delay to the office before leaving premises
Please ask delivery points to sign, date and print their name and where possible mark with
a company stamp
• We ask that, without causing offence or getting in to an argument, you please make
sure the name is legible because, as we know, delivery points have a habit of
‘losing’ consignments and a name makes the tracing procedure a lot easier for us.
• It is very important to check you are returning the correct amount of delivery / CMR
notes. We are groupage operators and consolidators. Therefore, many deliveries
both UK and on the continent will be for multiple consignments. This means that
you will have multiple delivery notes / CMRs. It is a common issue that delivery
points forget or omit to return all the delivery notes / CMRs. Therefore, please
ensure you get the correct amount back – otherwise we cannot prove we have
delivered the consignment. This leaves FTL vulnerable to claims and causes huge
amounts of work for us and also and more importantly upsets our customers.
• For UK loads the number of delivery notes or tickets will be on the vehicle loading
sheet or in the envelope.
• Another very important point is to check that you have not had a delivery note
signed up as short.
