All of the tortoises are back in the habitat
and getting ready for brumation. Betty had
surgery to remove a bladder stone at the
end of June. She convalesced at the Kolar
Spa for Infirm Torts and was back in the
habitat in a month. Like Maxine and Lucie,
she was thrilled to be back in the habitat
with all of her friends. When we brought
her back, she walked as far as she could
and finally went in a burrow when she got
too hot. So all of the tortoises have been
examined by a vet this year, and the three
females who had bladder stones have had
them surgically removed.
