These classes focus on practical application of daily living skills, self-help and communication skills in readiness for adult life in the
community. Students develop basic knowledge related to personal health, goal setting, time management and organizational
strategies. Emphasis is placed on interpersonal skills, communication skills, lifestyle choices and problem solving. During junior and
senior year, students begin to focus on self-advocacy, managing finances, goal setting, post-secondary decisions, as well as planning
for a career. Placement is recommended by the IEP team.

This course is designed for special education students who experience reading challenges similar to beginning readers and who need
