Cabbage Tomato Soup
Ingredients and Prep:
1/8 tablespoon of garlic salt.
¼ tablespoon of celery salt.
½ tablespoon of dried basil.
1 tablespoon of salt.
1 tablespoon of dried parsley.
2 tablespoons of flour.
2 tablespoons of margarine.
1 cup of canned tomatoes.
2 cups of water.
2 cups of chopped cabbage.
3 cups of 1% milk.
Cooking Directions:
Drain the liquid from the canned tomatoes.
Chop the cabbage into medium-sized chunks.
Heat butter in a large saucepan.
Place the cabbage into the saucepan and cook for 3 minutes.
Stir occasionally.
Add the salt and water.
Bring the ingredients to a boil over high heat.
Simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Turn the heat to high and bring the soup to a boil.
Add flour to the water and blend with a whisk.
Pour the water and flour mix into the soup.
Add the seasonings and add the tomatoes.
Bring the soup to a boil.
Turn the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir often.
Pour the milk into the simmering soup.
Heat over medium-low heat and serve.
Serving Instructions, Tips & Variations: This recipe will serve 4.
Serve this soup with bread and a side salad.
White or red cabbage is suitable for this dish.
