HELEN WRIGHT’S BROWNIES

        Ingredients
        2 ounces unsweetened chocolate                           3/4 cup flour
        1/2 cup butter                                           1/2 teaspoon baking powder
        1 cup sugar                                              1/2 teaspoon salt
        2 eggs



        Instructions
        Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a square pan. Melt chocolate and butter
        together in a double boiler. When melted, remove top pan from heat and stir in sugar.
        Beat eggs and add to mixture. Combine flour, salt and baking powder and proceed to
        add to the chocolate mixture. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes.
        To decorate add powdered sugar on top of brownies when cool.


        This recipe is based o  of the first cookbook I owned. It was Betty Crocker’s New
        Dinner for Two Cookbook, 1970.




        JO’S BROWNIES

        Ingredients
        4 eggs                                                   1 ½ cups flour
        2 cups sugar                                             1 teaspoon baking powder
        4 ounces unsweetened chocolate                           2 teaspoons vanilla extract
        2/3 cup butter                                           1 cup chopped nuts



        Instructions
        Melt chocolate with butter. Beat eggs and combine with sugar and chocolate. Then
        add sifted flour and vanilla extract and mix adding chopped nuts. Put in greased and
        floured pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.


        Jo was Ron’s Mother’s best friend and her Avon representative.
