Java Pepper (Piper cubeba), is a completely
different species to ordinary black pepper. It
was so highly prized that the Dutch colonised
West Java to ensure their supply. It is similar to
“regular” black pepper, but more aromatic, more
pungent and, of course, much rarer. Java rare
pepper, known as “Cubeb” pepper or “tailed”
pepper, is a critical ingredient in Bombay
Sapphire Gin.
Summary
Five completely unique products, all non-perishable with extended shelf lives. Each one
with a story to tell, and a market niche with discerning coffee, tea, and cooking connois-
seurs.
