THE NATIONAL SORORITY OF PHI DELTA KAPPA, INC. • 80TH ANNUAL EASTERN REGIONAL CONFERENCE
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Number of Sorors: 35
Description of the Activity: Fliers and posters were distributed to our local community concerning
information of various activities that Delta Lambda Chapter sponsored. Attention was also given to
consistent posting of activities on the NSPDK, Inc. Delta Lambda Chapter Facebook page and the
NSPDK, Inc. Eastern Region Chapters Facebook page. First Anti-Basileus Soror Sharone Jackson
is responsible for accurate reporting of Chapter Activities via print and photos -Soror Jackson is
currently working on an Instagram account. She also contributed several articles that were
published in the Krinon (NSPDK, Inc. national journal publication). Soror Tamar Owens has also
been instrumental in positive public relations on behalf of Delta Lambda thru her connections with
the NJDOE Amistad Commission, NJEA Equity Alliance and the Africana Studies Program @
Stockton University!!
COMMISSION ON CIVIL RIGHTS, EDUCATION AND LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
(ACADEMIC ISSUES AND CURRENT TRENDS) Number of Sorors: 7 7Others: 0
Description of the Activity: Chapter Sorors attended the NJEA (New Jersey Education Association)
Convention in November 2019 at the Convention Center in Atlantic City. Soror Tamar Owens
played a key position in bringing forth the Amistad Curriculum and connecting with the NJDOE
Amistad Commission. Soror Turkessa Lee served a moderator for the “Let's Talk About It” mental
health seminar at Atlantic Cape Community College (Mays Landing, NJ) in November 2019. First
Anti-Basileus Sharone Brown-Jackson and Soror Tamar Owens were special guests at the
Africana Studies Meet & Greet sponsored by the Black Faculty at Stockton University
(Pomona, NJ) in September 2019.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS (SISTERHOOD)
Sisterhood Activities: Number of Sorors: 338 Others:
Description of the Activity: Delta Lambda acknowledged the lives of Sorors' thru birthday,
congratulations, get well and sympathy cards. Past Basileus Andrea Stroud purchased and delivered
lunches for all working Sorors and Krinons on National Teachers' Day.
FOUNDERS' DAY: Number of Sorors: 18 Others: 550
Description of the Activity: Delta Lambda celebrated the NSPDK, Inc. 96th Founders Day on
Sunday, May 25, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church in Pleasantville, NJ. During the Service,
a portion of it was devoted to the Delta Lambda Chapter to make a presentation of $200.00 to Salem
United Methodist Church along with a brief history of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc
and the Delta Lambda Chapter. Before the Service, Salem United Methodist Church provided a
room for Delta Lambda to hold its Founders Day Ritual in honor of our National deceased
members. After the service, Sorors convened to have lunch at Villa Rifici (Absecon, NJ.).

LOCAL PROJECTS (contributions to local charities):
Soror Jeanette Reed led the Delta Lambda Chapter's Community Project wherein 126.8 lbs of food
donations were delivered to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey for their pantry food drive.
“Good food is all the sweeter when shared with good friends” in April 2019.
HEALTH, NUTRITION AND HYPERTENSION: Number of Sorors: 21
Description of the Activity: Soror Joycelyn Parker, a Nursing Teacher, provided current information
on women's health, proper nutrition, keeping aware of one's blood pressure and/or maintaining
hypertension through medicine, diet and exercise.
