ER Book Club- Karen Kelly- The book selected is “An American Marriage” by Tayari
Jones. The book club time changed. The Book Club will take place during the
Saturday Workshop timeframe due to a space conflict.
E.R.F.R.S- Past Supreme Basileus, Charlotte Williams reported on behalf of the
committee and gave a brief history of the house. Some years ago, the ER voted to
purchase the house after the passing of the founder. Two loans were secured, one
from the bank and one from the Founder’s relative. Both loans were repaid early, due
to the $10 per soror assessment on each chapter. Though the mortgage has been paid,
financial needs for upkeep remain. Reminded and encouraged chapters to continue
with their yearly assessments, organized by Cluster. (Cluster 1- Jun 30, Cluster 2-
Mar 31, Cluster 3- Dec 31, Cluster 4/5- Sept 30) The committee committed to
providing a presentation to show the history and progress of the house. This
presentation will include audio/visual and take-aways. It was reported that a renter
occupies the property, paying $1200 in rent monthly ($1056 goes to ERFRS, $144 to
broker). The house address: 500 4th Ave Cape May, NJ 08204
Eastern Regional Retreat- Sharon Andrews-Jackson- Distributed information on three
possible locations for the 2020 retreat (Kalahari, Poconos, Mt. Airy Resort, Poconos,
Crystal Golf Resort, NJ). A survey will be sent via email for Chapters to vote on the
location. Sorors suggested possibly researching a location in Maryland or in
Williamsburg, VA. The chair committed to researching and placing one more option
on the survey.
2019 Youth Conference-Valeria Edwards Co-Chair, Donna Mickens, Beta Lambda
Basileus. Congratulated Epsilon Alpha, Beta Omicron and Xi Chapters for receiving
many awards at the conference. The 2019 Essay winners were Danielle Jenkins, Alpha
Chapter, and Jordan Lee, Epsilon Alpha Chapter. The conference featured the first
campus crawl, where students visited 3 universities (1 HBCU, 1 School for the Arts
and Wake Forest University)
2020 Youth Conference- Celeste Waters, Chair, Eloise Robinson-Redd, Basileus, Zeta
Chapter. The location identified as the Crowne Plaza at King of Prussia. To date 18
chapters have registered, approximately 360 attendees. Chair and Basileus recognized
their chapter members for their hard work leading up to the event. Requested any
dietary concerns be sent via email by March 1, 2020. Also
