  “Side by Side”
When football teams like the Dallas Cowboys or the Kansas City Chiefs win, you almost always hear the same thing in the locker room afterward: “We did it together.” They don’t talk about 55 individuals chasing their own glory. They talk about family. About unity. About being a team.
Yes, each player has to do his job, but no one wins alone. Victory comes when they pull together side by side for a common goal.
The same is true in the heat of battle. Soldiers don’t survive by fighting as lone rangers. They stand shoulder to shoulder, covering each other, protecting each other, moving forward as a Band of Brothers. That’s why their bond runs so deep—it was forged in the fire of fighting side by side.
The apostle Paul paints this exact picture for the church at Philippi. Writing to the believers, he urges them: “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side
by side for the faith of the gospel.” Philippians 1:27 ESV
Paul knew the church wasn’t meant to be a group of isolated individuals doing their own thing. The church was meant to be a united body—moving together, standing together, striving together for the sake of Christ. Just like a team on the field or soldiers in the fight, the church wins when it works side by side.
And church, that’s the call for us today. Not “me and mine,” but we and ours. Not isolated lives, but one family of faith. Because when the church pulls together, hell can’t stop us, the enemy can’t divide us, and the world can’t ignore us.
“Step by step we’ll make this journey, Even though our roads may seem hard. Step by step we’ll make this journey, But we must put our trust in God.”
