USE OF MECHANICAL PLANT

SUMMARY OF CONTROL MEASURES:-

● You must only operate mechanical plant if you
are trained to do so;

● You must only use the mechanical plant for its
intended use;

● Mechanical plant must be used and operated in
accordance with the manufacturers

instructions;

● Where applicable, check that lifting appliances,
lifting equipment and accessories have a

current Thorough Examination Test Certificate;

● The plant operator must undertake a recorded

visual inspection before use. Never use
defective mechanical plant;

● Comply with the workplace traffic management
system, speed limits, slow down at crossing

points;

● Where applicable, provide suitable and

sufficient barriers to prevent access;

● Mechanical plant must be maintained in good
order,

● Use seat belts, do not allow passengers unless
seats are provided by the manufacturer;

● Never exceed identified Safe Working Loads;

● Use audible and visibility aids provided;
