STORAGE OF MATERIALS

SUMMARY OF CONTROL MEASURES:-

● Thoroughly plan storage requirements;

● Competent person to design storage systems;

● RAMS required to erect storage racking;

● Train relevant personnel to inspect racking
systems;

● Consider the provision of protection barriers
to prevent damage to racking;

● Clearly display maximum loading for each bay;

● Safe System of Work to be developed for the
use and loading of racking;

● Only competent trained forklift operators to
load racking systems;

● Operate forklifts on suitable and sufficient
levelled flooring;

● The forklift operator must have good vision of
the loading and unloading points;

● Competent person to undertake regular

recorded inspections;

● Suitable and sufficient lighting and heating to

be provided;

● Prevent unauthorised access during loading
and erect safety warning signage;

● Comply with HSE Guidance HSG 76.
