Managing Safety in
Manufacturing
Overview:
One of the challenges in some factory environments is the lack of engagement between management and their
employees which often results in poor safety standards.
Vincent’s passion for providing cost-effective solutions and building a strong “can do” attitude through coaching,
training, effective monitoring, consultation and above all, strong engagement, where employees are encouraged
to contribute to the success of the company has enabled companies to be more efficient.
One if the keys to success is the development of team leaders to ensure work is planned with safety as a priority,
work equipment is well maintained and team leaders provide strong leadership.
Achievements
● Worked with managing directors and general managers to agree the Health and Safety direction of the
businesses and to achieve the companies Health and Safety objectives.
● Developed robust Business Management Systems.
● Improved standards and legal compliance through programme of training, coaching, and monitoring;
● Included employees and management to become involved in accidents, incidents and near miss
investigations which significantly reduced them.
● Developed & successfully implemented an effective continuous improvement programme.
● Working and engaging with employees to improve standards and promote safer working conditions.
● In consultation with employees, developed Safe Systems of Work and task-specific Risk Assessments.
● Set-up and chaired regular Health and Safety Committee meetings and encouraged contributions from
committee members to provide solutions and initiatives to improve standards.
● Introduced efficiencies in the production process and reduced wastage.
● Significantly improved management of contractors to ensure they complied with the relevant ACoP’s
such as HSG 85 Electrical Safety.
