Storage of harnesses

• All harnesses must be stored in a safe place hanging
up free from the following. (Heat damage, abrasion
damage, chemical damage, ultraviolet damage etc.)

• All persons using a harness must have working at

• Ensure the harness is a good fit for the person using
it.
• All harnesses must be visually checked for damage

before each use and thoroughly inspected by a
competent person weekly.

• Weekly inspection must be documented using a GA3
form. These records must be available on site file for
inspection.

• All harnesses must be tagged with certification date
and identification number/code which will relate back
to your company harness register.

• Never write on a harness with pen, marker or
equivalent.

• All harnesses must be inspected by a competent
person at suitable intervals relevant to the
environment

• A harness has a working life of 5 years.
