                               his dog, *Dandie, bring me my hat/  and he imme­

                               diately pi eked  out  the  lia.t  from  all  others  and
                               brought it to his masters hand.

                                  If all  the gentlemen in a company each threw

                               a  penknife  on  the  floor,  the  dog,  when  com­

                               manded, would  select  that of his  master from the

                               heap and bring it to him.
                                  If  a  pack  of  cards  were  scattered  about  the

                               floor, if his master had  previously selected one  of
