representative of God in a person. A truth belongs to God and

that truth can be achieved by a process of dialogue.
A leader who cannot grow without raising others, as

               stated in the following proverb:

                                 Karano plants are planted,
                                 high karano fought,

                                 gadang karano dilambuak,
                                 mulie karano added,

not a fountain from the sky,
step mambasuik from the earth. 112

How come if you don't want to ask,
how come outrigger ur indak ka batanyo,

how come kuaik urang indak ka balinduang,
how come it's like we don't act as father? 113

The explanation above states that a person will not be
great by himself but great because of other people and because

of his ability. To be great a pure leader grows from the bottom

112 Idrus Hakimy, Mustika Series, p. 87, which means: It grows
because it is planted, it is high because it is exalted, it is great because it is
whipped, it is noble because it is worshiped, it does not come down from the
sky, it does not come out of the earth.
113 AA Navis, Alam Takambang Becomes a Teacher, p. 64, which
means: Even though you are rich, people will not ask, even if you are smart,
people will not ask, even though you are strong, you will not take refuge, even
if you are brave, you will not fight.
