There are several egalitarian aspects and characteristics

contained in adat:
a. consensus

Sourced from the traditional philosophy of

"Alam Takambang Becomes a Guru", which in its
traditional culture there will always be a diversity of

ways of thinking, while also wanting a synthetic
uniformity. The Minang people's way of thinking is

described in the following form: If there is a thesis, there
will be an antithesis and then it will be concluded in the

form of a synthesis. An idea of thought or a thesis,

always provides an open space for thought, opinion or
criticism in the form of an antithesis, but in these

differences, efforts are made to reach a consensus or
synthesis. This process is called consensus, which is

seeking approval (saiya sakata) and the result is called
consensus, this consensus is the hallmark of Minang

custom. As stated in the adat mamangan:
