6. Rationality
Rational means using logic or reason (sound mind) in
thinking. It is a product of natural philosophy that has an
impact on educational material with a tendency towards things
that are clearly not mystical or cult, and the use of reason as
the main basis. Therefore, the adat doctrine is more inclined
towards the use of ratio rather than feeling. In the customary
tradition it is stated:
How come malompek basitumpu,
How come the counterbalance? 124
Someone who acts or makes decisions based on clear
and justifiable reasons.
7. Accountability (Responsibility)
By realizing that every job has risks, a Minang does not
underestimate the responsibility that must be borne as a result
of his work. Therefore do something in accordance with the
ability that can be accounted for. As the following traditional
proverb:
Reaching for the hand nest
Mamiku Sakaik Shoulder
Malompek take a step
124 Rifa'i Yogi, Minang Literature, p. 30, which means: If you jump,
you kneel, if you stomp on the ground.
