West, kings in Minangkabau are called kings of nature,
kings whose position is only as a symbol because the
highest power is held by deliberation and consensus. As
stated by mamangan as follows:
good luck,
basilang chile,
nan bana kato saiyo,
nan rajo kato consensus. 119
Even though it looks grim,
sharp nails are not good,
like an apprenticeship in nature,
kato consensus nan quasi. 120
The above doctrine shows how high the position
of a product of deliberation is called consensus. He is
held in high esteem by society and is considered to have
a more correct truth than the results of decisions made
by one person, such as absolute words by a king.
Therefore, the Minang people obey the agreement rather
