Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Muhammad Yamin, the Indonesian
minister of education; Hamka; writers and scholars.
The Padri War, as a starting point for change, has
succeeded in strengthening and enlarging the influence of Islam
into the social system of the Minangkabau community, so that
there are differences in the influence of Islam on Minang customs
in the period after and before the Padri war. Minang customs which
initially originated in the real world, after the arrival of Islam, these
customs accommodate Islam into customs, because the teaching of
learning in nature is also a virtue in Islam. Therefore, the Minang
custom referred to in this study is the postwar Minang custom,
because at this time it was firmly established that an agreement was
being instituted between adat which based its teachings on nature
and Islam, which was based on monotheism in Allah.
The impact of the unification of adat and Islam affects the
government system, which system contains three groups of people
namely religion, adat and intellectuals called Tungku Tigo
Sajarangan (Tungku Tiga Sejarangan). The unification of religious
and customary elements is depicted in the symbol of the
completeness of a nagari, namely the traditional hall and mosque
