implementation of education is not clear, the talents and
willingness of students do not get a proper place, educational
materials are conditional with government messages and
information, values (religion) have dwindled and are being
replaced by values that adhere to the government with the APS
slogan "As long as the government is happy". ". Differences of
opinion are considered anti-government, so collectively all of this
has destroyed the values of education in customs, especially the
democratic values of education contained in them.
Seeing the fact that the loss of the tradition of showing
figures from regions that had potential since the Padri war until the
independence period means that the Republic of Indonesia has lost
its nation's assets. And driven by the spirit of reform that is
currently rolling and it seems that democracy or freedom of
expression is starting to get a place again, so the interest and desire
of researchers arose to retrace the starting point of the concept of
Minang adat education. Through this research, the author tries to
explore and examine the concepts and thoughts of education
contained in Minang customs.
B. Limitation and Problem Formulation
Considering the time span of the existence of Minang
customs which lasted quite a long time, the researchers limited the
