To process the data above, the researcher used descriptive

analysis method, with the procedure, the researcher took an
inventory in general about the main ideas of adat. The main ideas

are analyzed, criticized and compared with other opinions, after

which they are stated in a writing description. Meanwhile, to
analyze the text, the hermeneutic method is used, namely providing

an interpretation or interpretation of the traditional text which
contains a lot of symbols.

In understanding the main ideas of adat above, the
researcher uses a philosophical approach because this study must

explore the basis and philosophy of Minang adat, so that the

discussion is thorough, in-depth and speculative.
The technique of making this thesis uses references that

refer to the Guide to Writing Thesis, Thesis and Dissertation, IAIN
Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. In each new chapter of this thesis, the

The analytical techniques used to apply this method are:

text is not bound by who the author is and the time of
its creation. In this case, the focus of attention is the
