extensions of a dictatorial power, so that the nagari democratic
system is changed to a central autocratic system. submit to or obey
the government. It seems that this intervention has paralyzed the
democratic system in the nagari. Thus, the role of adat is blunted
in shaping intellectuals which has been a tradition of this region.
Indigenous Minang, which has always respected human
rights with its consensus system, has no other choice but to accept
the bitter pill of a new dictatorial culture that causes Minang
customs to lose their authority. The existing system in adat,
especially the concept of education, cannot develop properly, and
the role of adat that remains ceremonial becomes barren in shaping
its society towards intellectual development as has been done so
far. Education that is currently running is only formal education
organized by the government, this education is full of government
missions that must be conveyed to the people, this causes fewer
opportunities for educators to consider the talents, desires and
needs of students, because of the large amount of material that
must be delivered. on students.
Education which aims to develop intellectuals that is based
on religious values (tawhid) is increasingly blurred because it has
been defeated by education controlled by the government with the
aim of preserving absolute power. The direction of the
