war. Because Minang customs contain many aspects such as legal,

           social,  political,  educational,  etc.,  it  is  necessary  to  limit  the
           problem, the researcher limits it to the educational aspect with the

           title "The Concept of Education in Minang Customs".

                  To clarify the problem above, it is necessary to formulate
           the problem under study. The formulation of the problem in this

           thesis is "What is the concept of education contained in Minang
           customs?".

           C.  Research purposes
                  The writing of this thesis is expected to contribute ideas to

           science and especially the Minang community. In accordance with

           the formulation of the problem above, the main purpose of this
           study is to find out what the concept of education is contained in

           Minang customs, especially Minang customs after the Paderi war.
           D.  Research methodology

                  In writing this thesis, the researcher uses library research,
           because the problems studied are related to ideas and concepts of

           thought, especially the thought of traditional education which is

           extracted  from  the  views,  thoughts  of  traditional  leaders  and
           thinkers. For this reason, researchers collect references from the

           library in the form of books, magazines, scientific writings and

           tambo (historiography), namely writings based on word of mouth.
