I expect the speaker to facilitate the meeting well, to ensure everyone’s interest and partici-
pation. Speaking loudly and clearly is important in making the discussion livelier. We will be
able to interact and understand the agenda. I would do these things, if I were the speaker in a
meeting.

3. Do you raise questions if you cannot understand what the speaker is trying
to discuss?

Sample answer:
I do not hesitate to ask questions whenever I want to clarify something especially if it is work-
related. If I am not resolved about certain things that we have to agree with, I always raise my
opinion and my basis for thinking otherwise.

1. As Store Manager of Chanel Boutique in Beverly Hills, California, you an-
nounced that the month ender meeting would be tonight, after store hours.
The agenda would focus on the month’s sales, the employees’ incentives,
and next month’s immediate plans.

Sample answer:
Pleasant evening to everyone, I know that you are exhausted the whole day at the boutique,
yet we still need to extend our hours for this month-ender meeting. We have prepared pizza for
dinner. Help yourselves while we have the discussion rolling. From the initial report, our sales
have increased, and we have surpassed our target for this month. Fragrance, Bath and Body,
Gift Sets of Allure, Allure Sensuelle and AllureHomme are the top sellers for this month. Make-
up and other beauty essentials remain salable. I would like to congratulate everyone for a job
well done. Incentives will be issued to each one of you on your next payday.

2. You are the Store Manager of Jollibee California. You will be attending the
company’s quarterly meeting with the Area and Operations Manager from
the main office in the Philippines. You will be presenting the store’s sales for
the past four months.

Sample answer:
Good morning, Jollibee California has exceeded its quarterly target for the past four months.
Filipinos, Fil-Americans as well as Native Americans and other foreigners were so delighted
with the taste of our Palabok Special, Chicken Joy and Yum burgers. We owe this to the Filipinos
living here for introducing our products to their friends and relatives living here and elsewhere.
