Ashley: I’m calling for a phone support on my notebook PC.
Kelly: Let me help you with that. May I have your name and phone number please.
Ashley: It’s Ashley Brown. My phone number is 927-645-1234.
Kelly: I’m sorry. Could you say that again please?
Ashley: Okay, I’m Ashley Brown and my number is 927-645-1234.
Kelly: I’m so sorry. I can barely hear you. Can you phonetically spell out your first name?
Ashley: It’s A for apple, S for Sam, H for Harry, L for love, E for Earth and Y for Yankee.
Kelly: I apologize for the inconvenience; we are having communication difficulties due to line
breakage.
Ashley: For crying out loud, what is happening! I can hear you well.
Kelly: Probably, only our line is affected. The line keeps being cut in and out.
Ashley: Okay, I understand.
Kelly: Please be rest assured that we would resolve this as soon as possible.
Ashley: All right.
Kelly: I will contact you again as soon as I can. Could you please tell me your phone number
again?
Ashley: It’s 927-645-1234.
Kelly: Let me repeat it. It’s 927-645-1234 right?
Ashley: Yes.
Kelly: Thank you ma’am. I’ll contact you as soon as possible.
Ashley: Alright. I’ll be waiting.
Kelly: Thank you for understanding.
1. What would you do if you were talking to someone about a very important
matter when suddenly the line was cut?
Sample answer:
I will call back immediately and courteously explain about the communication dif-
ficulty. If I cannot call back due to some problems with the phone line, I will commu-
nicate through other means to ensure that I’ll be able to contact him again. If these
methods prove to be impractical or ineffective, I’ll try to suggest another time for us to
talk. If matters are urgent, I would suggest that we meet.
