With nearly half of the state’s population being Hispanic (48.7%), New Mexico is
the state with the highest relative population of Hispanics, but California has the
largest population. As of 2020, there were 15.6 million Hispanics in that
state accounting for 39.4% of the state’s total population.
Texas, California and Florida saw increases of over 1 million Hispanics between
2010 and 2020. Together they account for 43% of the US Hispanic growth during
that period.
In California and New Mexico, Hispanics are half of the population under the age
of 18.
