Hikayat Aceh Manuscript
Hikayat Aceh is a valuable manuscript consisting of 281 pages measuring
19.5 × 15.5 cm, written in Malay using Arabic script. This work combines
traditional Malay literary style with strong Persian influences, resulting in
a story rich in historical detail and of high literary value.
Its uniqueness lies in the old hagiographic tradition that largely follows
the Persian style of writing, and is believed to have been compiled at the
behest of Sultanah Safiyyat al-Din Syah, daughter of Sultan Iskandar
Muda. Not only is it a work of literature, Hikayat Aceh also serves as a
window into history, recording the political, cultural, and religious glory
of the Sultanate of Aceh in the past.
