3.3.4.6 Rubber sheets
Rubber sheets are cleansed by placing them on a flat surface and scrub with soap and
water
They should be rinsed well and hanged on rods to dry
Plastic articles care for the same way as rubber articles
When not in use it should be powdered rolled and stored
3.3.4.7 Care of rubber goods
Rubber Bags
Rubber bags such as hot water bottles, ice bags, or ice collars should be drained and
dried.
They should be inflated with air and closed to prevent the sides from sticking together
Rubber tubing's
Rubber tubes should be washed with warm, soapy water
The inside of the tube should be flushed and rinsed well
They should be taken not to bend or kink tubes as the will ruin them
They should be hanged over a rod to dry
The clamp should not be left on the tubing
Adhesive marks are removed by rubbing with ether or benzene
After cleansing properly, tubing's should be put away by rolling loosely
Rubber tubes are sterilized for 15 minutes on autoclaving
Rubber Gloves
Rubber gloves should be rinsed in cold water then washed thoroughly in soap and warm
water on both sides.
Disinfectants may be used depending on Procedures
They should be ride by hanging or by wiping them with towels
Rubber gloves should never be dried on direct heat nor allowed to come in contact with
fire, oil, and acid as these things ruin them
To sterilize gloves, they should first be washed and dried
They should be tested for holes, be powdered, and put in glove cases after which they
are sterilized in an autoclave.
3.4 Discharging the patient from the hospital
Send admission chart to the registration office
Assist patient to dress up
Collect personal belongings of the patient
Instruct patient about medication, treatment, and follow up
Check recipient before sending patient
