Always hold the tip-up word
If the tip of the forceps is contaminated accidentally, it should be sterilized before
placing it back in the jar.
3.3.4.2 Care of sterile containers
➢ Care should be taken not to contaminate the inside of lids
➢ While opening a sterile container, the lid should be placed with the inner side upwards
and covered immediately after use
➢ When removing instruments from the sterile container, sterile pick-up forceps should be
used
➢ Do not touch inside of the container or lid with the hand or any other unsterile article
➢ Keep the container covered at all times
➢ Sterilized daily the container
3.3.4.3 Care of syringes and needles
▪ After use immerse syringe by separating bottle & plunger & needle in 0.5% chlorine
solution
▪ Then wash in soap and water using a small brush
▪ Attach the needle to the syringe and splash water through the needle to clean it
▪ Check the needle if they are blunt or having hooks, if so through them away
▪ Syringes and needles are sterilized by boiling, dry heat or by autoclaving
3.3 .4.4 Care of glassware
Rinse in cold and wash with soapy water using a brush when necessary
Dry medicine glasses thoroughly so that tablets will not stick to them
Class tubes should be cleaned by using a small brush or applicator
Take precaution when handling glasswares
Sterilize by boiling, autoclaving, or dry heat
3.3.4.5 Care of electrical appliances
Special care should be taken in caring for electrical appliances
Carefully adjust the lamps of scopes (cystoscopes, gastroscopes, proctoscopies, etc.).
Wet clothes should never be used while cleaning electrical appliances
Electric cords should not be bent or kinked as this will cause breakage of the wire
inside and cause a fire
Loose sockets should be reported immediately for maintenance
