❖  Give care to all instruments, rubber goods, glassware, etc.
                   ❖  Clean sink, table, and shelves in the utility room
                   ❖  Report dripping faucets loose sockets, dysfunction of instruments to the person in
                       charge
                   ❖  Keep the utility room clean and in order at all times

                       3.3.3 Care of linens
                   ❖  Clean linen should be folded properly and be keep patient neatly in the linen cupboard
                   ❖  Dirty linen should be put in the dirty linen bag/humper/ and never be placed on the
                       floor
                   ❖  Torn linen should be mended or sent to the sewing room
                   ❖  Linen with blood should be soaked in cold water, a small amount of hydrogen peroxide
                       is added if available
                   ❖  Linen stained with urine and feces is first rinsed in cold water and then washed with
                       soap
                   ❖  Apply ammonia; rinse and then wash with cold water for Iodine stained linens
                   ❖  Ink stains should be treated at once by soaking them in cold water or milk, prolonged
                       soaking, at least 24hours, may be required.
                   ❖  Rubbing with a paste of salt and lemon juice on the stain and allowing the article to lie
                       in the sun is another method, which may be effective.
                   ❖  Wash in cold water and then pour boiling water for tea or coffee stains
                   ❖  To remove “B” complex stains, dissolve in water or spirit
                   ❖  Mucous stains can be removed from linen by soaking it in salted water
                   ❖  To remove rust, soak in salt and lemon juice and then bleach in the sun

                        3.3.4 Care of instruments and applicants
                     Sock instruments and disinfect them
                     Instruments should be washed and scrubbed thoroughly using soap and water or
                       scouring powder.
                     All instruments should be unclamped before washing.
                     Special attention should be paid to hinges and grooves of instruments
                     Instruments are sterilized by boiling, dry, heat, or immersing into a disinfectant solution
                     If instruments are to be put away for a long time they should be divided and oiled at the
                       hinges.

                       3.3.4.1 Care of pick up forceps and jars
                     Wash pick up forceps (cheat’s forceps) and jars & sterilized daily
                     Fill jar which disinfectant solution daily
                     Place forceps in solution
                     Care should be taken not to contaminate the tip of forceps
