CHAPTER 7




                COMBINATIONS





                This chapter includes over 50 punch combinations that you
                can incorporate when shadowboxing. Remember to pay
                close attention to your footwork and technique as you

                practice. Refer to previous chapters for more information on
                mechanics and specific movements. Remember to retract
                your hands after each punch.



                COMBINATION 1




                Jab, cross, hook
                Turn your wrists on the jab and cross to connect your

                knuckles to the target. Rotate around the waist to shift your
                rear shoulder forward as you extend your rear arm and pivot
                on the ball of the rear foot to throw the cross. Your feet
                should be parallel to each other, pointing toward the target.
                Lift and lock your lead elbow at about 90 degrees, then

                rotate around the waist, squaring your hips toward the
                target, to throw the hook.



                COMBINATION 2




                Cross, hook, cross
                To throw the hook, lift and lock your lead elbow at about 90

                degrees, then rotate around the waist, squaring your hips
                toward the target. Remember not to over-rotate, as this will
                decrease the impact of your punch.
