You are leaning too far back on your rear foot, or
simply, “leaning back”: This form of being off-balance
occurs when you lean your weight backward over the rear
foot, away from the direction of your target. While some of
the force is absorbed by the target upon connecting, the
impact and power of the punch is reduced. This is because
the active tension in your backward-leaning body pulls some
of the power away from the target, also causing you to
reach the target more slowly.
