The US Army Finance Corps Association recognized COL Ralph “Mac” Crum with the MG
Nathan Towson Medallion for his exceptional leadership during the rapid evacuation and
operations in Afghanistan. COL Crum expertly led a Joint Force through fiscal transition and

closure of the Defense Security Cooperation Management Office-Afghanistan (DSCMO-A).
DSCMO-A is the post-evacuation combination of the former US Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-
A) and Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A). Under the duress of
a rapid exit from Afghanistan, COL Mac Crum led the transition of over $22B in fiscal
responsibility. Providing essential leadership to the very end, Mac oversaw the formal
disestablishment of the Department of Defense mission in Afghanistan on 1 June 2022. A
historic, unprecedented, and exceptional event – led by COL Mac Crum and codified in our
Finance Corps legacy.
