Rear axle- Differential assembly

Overhaul

1. Remove the main reducing gear assembly. (refer to “chapter 25 rear axle –main
reducing gear assembly, replacement”)

2. Remove the bearing cover
(a). Make matchmarks on the bearing cover and the
differential case.
(b). Make matchmarks on the bearing cover and the
adjusting nut.

(c). Loosen the bolt and remove the locking plate.

(d). Remove the adjusting nut with a differential
wrench. 25
Notice:
Make sure that the bolt of bearing cover is slightly
loosened before carrying out this step.

(e). Loosen 2 bolts of bearing cover and remove the
bearing cover.
• Remove the outer ring of the differential
bearing at the same time.

Hint:
The steps are same for the removal of the bearing
covers on both sides.
Notice:
Make sure that the parts for the left side and the
right side of the differential are placed separately
and label on them to indicate the left and the right.
