Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices




         1 Holding the standing part of the rope in

             one hand, wrap the working part of the
             rope round the fingers.
         2 Make four or five more turns, working

             round back down the fingers.
         3 Take out your fingers leaving a sort of
             tunnel.

         4 Tuck the working end through the tunnel
             formed by the fingers.
         5 Pull tight ensuring that the turns of the

             knot sit neatly together, working out any
             slack in the knot.
