Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices
1 In the middle of the whipping twine, tie
the first part of an overhand knot round
the end of the rope.
2 Bring the ends of the whipping twine
behind the rope and tie another overhand
knot.
3 Repeat again at the front of the rope.
4 Continue to make this series of overhand
knots front and back until the full length of
the whipping has been made.
5 Finish with a reef knot.
