French Whipping
This series of half hitches works in much the same way as the West Country
whipping but looks a lot neater. Again it is recommended that the hitches are
worked back from the end of the rope.
A long length of French whipping, made round a tool handle or ship’s wheel,
will give a decorative finish with a good grip. Take care if you are making a
long length, as you are sure to get sore fingers!
